Lauren Harrington-Cooper, the Wyoming Valley West High School teacher arrested for allegedly having sex with a student, was hit with more charges Thursday alleging she had sexual contact with another student.
Harrington-Cooper, 31, of Kingston, is facing charges of sexual contact with a student and corruption of minors. The alleged offense took place in the fall and involved a different student than the first incident, Luzerne County Detective Chaz Balough said.
The affidavit alleges Harrington-Cooper and a 17-year-old student began communicating by text and met up multiple times between October and November of last year. The victim told police on one occasion, he picked up Harrington-Cooper at her home on Winola Avenue in Kingston and the two drove around for 90 minutes in the Back Mountain. They then returned to her home and kissed in the vehicle, according to police.
The victim told police the texting continued and they met up outside of school on another occasion during which Harrington-Cooper performed oral sex on the 17-year-old in a parked car outside a house in Kingston, according to the affidavit.
Harrington-Cooper was arrested last month on a charge of institutional sexual assault alleging she had sex with an 18-year-old student.
The teacher and student allegedly began meeting after the student’s sister told her brother that Harrington-Cooper said he was “hot” Dec. 13 and gave her brother the teacher’s phone number. The teacher also was a lunch monitor during the student’s lunch period, arrest papers said.
The teacher performed oral sex on the senior three times and had intercourse with him twice, the alleged victim told authorities. When questioned by law enforcement, the teacher allegedly admitted to picking up the senior, driving around and having intercourse twice in her vehicle and oral sex once in her vehicle.
Harrington-Cooper, who was released after her first arrest on $25,000 unsecured bail, was rearrested Thursday morning. She was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Paul Roberts, who set bail at $25,000.
