A man who allegedly skipped out on a  restaurant bar bill became impaled on a spike fence as he attempted to make a  swift getaway.

The man, who has not been named, was drinking  at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Saturday evening when  the shocking incident occurred.

The reveller, who is reportedly a 30-year-old  North Carolina resident, was involved in a dispute about the bar bill and  attempted to flee the hotel without paying by jumping over a  fence.

But his getaway was brought to an abrupt end  when 18 inches of fence became impaled in his leg.

Emergency crews found him balancing on one  leg with the spike pierced through his  other leg.

It took eight firefighters to free the man,  according to WHDH.

The rescuers were forced to use saws,  hydraulic cutting tools and a cutting wheel to cut loose the section of fence  that had punctured the man’s leg, according to the Manchester  Union-Leader.

He was transported to Elliot Hospital with  part of the fence still piercing through his leg.

‘He was actually in pretty good shape. He was  texting and making phone calls. He was very cooperative,’ Lt. Max Chiasson,  Manchester Fire Department, told WHDH.

The responsive man managed to escape with  little injury, according to Lt. Chiasson. ‘He didn’t hit any arteries, any  ligaments according to the hospital. And didn’t hit any bones either,’ he  said.

It is unclear whether he will face charges  for not picking up his bill.
