Help, Police; I’ve been robbed. They didn’t take anything, though…
Police in Kalamazoo stumbled upon a large drug operation after the homeowner called them to report a robbery at the residence.
Officers responded around 9 p.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of Village Street on a call that two armed people entered the residence, committed a robbery and fled the scene in gray, four-door Buick vehicle. Officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety searched the area for that vehicle and talked to the homeowner who said nothing was stolen during the robbery.
Officers went to the homeowner’s residence to check for possible evidence and detected the odor of marijuana and noticed loose marijuana on the floor, according to a news release. The residents denied there were illegal drugs in the home and also denied consent for officers to search the home. The residence was secured and during a protective search, to assure there were no other subjects in the home, a marijuana grow operation was located in an upstairs bedroom. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and police found a large amount of processed marijuana, marijuana plants, acid, suspected bath salts, a large psilocybin mushrooms grow operation and $1,800.
A case against a 21-year-old is being submitted to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office.
