Hey police officer, it’s not a good idea to get arrested for exposing yourself to patrons in a bar and then stabbing a man after he was escorted out.
According to Galveston police, HPD Officer Miles Dumas, 24, was in a bar in the 2300 block of Strand when he exposed his genitals to a group of men and women. Dumas was then reportedly confronted by the men in the group and escorted outside by bar personnel.
Police say the disturbance escalated outside with Dumas reportedly stabbing one man. A friend of Dumas reportedly struck another man in the face with a pistol. Both suspects fled the scene along with another man, identified as Michael Brady.
Dumas was arrested a short time later and was charged with indecent exposure and aggravated assault. His bonds total $41,000. Brady was charged with failure to report a felony. Charges are pending against the third suspect.
As for the victims, they were both transported to UTMB with what appears to be injuries that are not life-threatening.
An HPD spokesperson tells us Dumas, who works out of Westside patrol, will be relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of an investigation. He’s been on the force since this past September.
