A young mother has been arrested for allegedly leaving her baby in her car while she went to play pool in the early hours of the morning.
Chelsea Ball, 18, told police she left the 17-month-old child in the car but also left her dog for protection, according to a warrant affidavit.
After leaving the baby in the car at 3.30 a.m., she then went inside the pool hall in Gaston, North Carolina for an hour and a half, witnesses said.
The woman, from Clover, South Carolina, told police she had gone into West End Billiards to speak to a friend, the Gaston Gazette reported.
She claimed she had been inside the pool hall no longer than half an hour but a witness gave a written statement claiming it had been much longer.
Police arrested the woman and charged her with contributing to the deliquency of a child.
