18-year-old Darius Ewing allegedly poured lighter fluid on the Labrador terrier outside a Dallas, Texas apartment block on April 4. He turned himself in as outraged neighbours held a candlelight vigil in support of the pup. Ewing is charged with felony animal cruelty and could face up to 10 years in jail if he is convicted.
